UPDATE DECMBER 5, 2005
In January, this will be addressed. There is no info on this other than it "will deal with dogs".
Proposal has not been seen by our inside source and they have heard it both ways…BSL or tight Dangerous Dog law. RNC will post any info received on meeting date.

10-2-2005
EAU CLAIRE WISCONSIN
Eau Claire City Councilman Dallas Neville is asking the city to consider banning pit bulls.
There have been two "attacks" by bull breeds in the past few months and the proposal is being drafted at this time.
We have an obvious case of irresponsible ownership on this dog according to the facts surrounding the recent attack
85 year old Eileen Smiskey was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull early Tuesday afternoon.
According to neighbors, this is not the first time the dog has caused problems for Smiskey and her family.

More interesting info to include in letters is the following...considering the majority of the animals "rescued" from the disaster were pit bull breeds.

Other organizations around the state are pitching in with animal disaster relief (New Orleans):
"Every humane organization in our state has responded in full force to make sure that animals get a safe landing in this disaster," Wisconsin Humane Society Executive Director Victoria Wellens said.
• The H.O.P.E. Safehouse in Racine, which cares for injured, neglected and abandoned
pets, may welcome as many as 250 animals - mostly cats and dogs - by the end of the month.
About half of the animals will head to shelters in Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire and Fond du Lac 72 hours after they arrive.
The remaining half will be placed in homes in the area.

Another interesting point to make....
Oakwood Hills Animal Hospital, LLC in Eau Claire WI
treated one of the city's first Xylitol victims, a pit-bull pooch named Brooklyn.

There are 16 veterinarians which are listed in the American Pit Bull Registry in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
