**UPDATE INFO**
4-29-06

Next Council mtg. is May 9th @7:00 (100 North 5th Street)
Changes will include the following:
*No tethering for more than two hours. And every three hours this can be done.
*Kennel size requirements
This is an almost impossible to enforce and cumbersome proposal.
Will possibly be discussing breed specific at a later time, but are hoping the
changes going on books now will answer a lot of their problems. Will be one for those
in the area to keep a close eye on as they have one VERY PRO BSL Councilmember!

Just heard Leavenworth, KS is talking about a Rotti and pit bull type dog ban/restrictions again. My contact has successfully fought this in previous years, but it looks like it is being proposed again. I will followup with details, as soon as I get some, but it looks like this was a sneak attack, so need to be wary. She indicated that she didn't see anything in the papers and watches them. She also said that she just happened to catch the meeting on TV, otherwise would not have known. pkitchens@firstcity.org deputy chief's email Ms. York, The City Commission discussed possible revisions to the animal ordinance during their study session last Tuesday evening. There was not a clear consensus regarding any changes. The issue will be discussed at a future study session; however, at this time I do not know what date that will be. The policy report will be prepared by Deputy Chief Pat Kitchens. I have copied him on this e-mail. The City Code can be viewed on line.www.ci.leavenworth.ks.us click on City Commission Agenda to view the list of items that the Commission will be discussing at the upcoming meeting. This is usually posted on Friday afternoon prior to the Tuesday meetings.click on City Government to find the link to the Leavenworth Municipal Code to view the current ordinance.
