Mulberry Grove, Illinois has just passed an ordinance requiring all pit bulls be licensed and registered with the village.

A pit bull is defined as


  • any bull terrier breeds,
  • Staffordshire bull terrier
  • pit bull terrier
  • American Staffordshire terrier
    and
    other breeds known as
  • pit bulls,
  • bull dogs
    or
  • bull terriers
  • any mixed of any of the above breeds of dogs.
    • The license/registration fee is $50.
  • All owners are required to provide proof of ownership,
  • a copy of current immunization and health record,
  • certificate of insurance showing coverage in an amount not less than $300,000,
  • two photographs of the dog.
  • must also display a sign using the words "Beware of Dog -- Pit Bull"

    • I WONDER IF THE CITY IS PROVIDING A MEANS OF INSURANCE FOR THESE DOGS SINCE IT IS NOW A REQUIREMENT BY LAW?
