NEW INFO 2-25-06
A resident of Longmont reports that the public hearing was overwhelmingly not in favor of a ban,
the City Council had yet to move definitively one way or the other.
Also the press has skewed Longmont's bite statistics to look
like pit bulls were the only breeds that had bite reports
...well...there's a shock??!! NOT..
Any additional pressure that could be put on the City,
in the form of letters of phone calls, would be helpful, since they have not made a decision yet...
please people only write or call if it can be done in a respectful manner.
Remember...these folks hold the key to the future of pit bulls in Longmont
and NOTHING is gained and all is lost by rude correspondance!!

The City Council is expected to hold a public hearing on breed-specific bans next month.
Council members said they expected to use the information gathered at the meeting to inform their decision.
CHECK BACK FOR DATE AND TIME!!
The city is also conducting a survey about the proposal,
and will compare the information from that poll with the comments from the meeting.
The council is expected to hold a public hearing on a specific proposal sometime next month.

INDIVIDUAL COUNCIL CONTACTS ARE LISTED BELOW....

November 23, 2005

Longmont, Colorado
***12/05/05 NEW INFO IN RED***

City leaders are planning a possible ban on pit bulls and other “fighting dogs.”
Aurora and Denver were, of course both brought up (remember Aurora has 10 BREEDS LISTED!!!)
Council cited the reason to discuss the issue was the "increase in the number of pit bulls passing through thier Humane Societies..."

Heads up Rottie folks...a resident held up a picture of his sons injuries...THAT HAPPENED IN CALIFORNIA...but seemed to be the deciding factor in the Councils mind to discuss this further at a later, but as-yet unknown, date.
