Dr. John Hoskins at the Louisiana State University says the Rottweiler breed and some families in particular don't respond well to Parvo vaccinations (no matter what brand) and recommends routinely running serology (blood test) to evaluate antibody response 2 weeks after the last scheduled vaccination. If your Rottweiler does not have a good titre, re-booster as soon as the test results are back and continue to test and vaccinate. Usually one or two extra shots will suffice, but Dr. Hoskins says he has had Rotties go to 10 or 11 months of age w/ monthly boosters before they show a good titer. Remember, Dr. Hoskins is the one in charge of the Intervet vaccination studies on Rottweilers in the United States.
