ROTT N CHATTER, November 1992, Volume 1 Number 4 DON'T BE A TURKEY Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I guess it is time to remind you about keeping your Thanksgiving dinner to yourself. I know those pleading eyes, "growling" stomaches and drooling lips are very hard to resist. Any bone can be dangerous to our dogs, particulary if it is small or has been cooked and has become brittle. Turkey, chicken, ribs and with a Rottweiler even small "O" bones or "T" bones are all a no-no. I know that some of you will probably say that when you were a kid your dogs always had bones. Years ago whenever a dog got sick and ultimately died, it was often thought that the dog was poisoned, or got Distemper or something similar. The dog could have actually died from a blockage or splinters perforating an intestine caused from a bone it had eaten days earlier. How many dogs can you remember that were taken in for an autopsy to determine the cause of death? Just something think about. Let this holiday be a real day of THANKSGIVING>
