ROTT N CHATTER, September 1992, Volume 1 Number 2 WHERE'S THE BEEF? Scott Hale of San Francisco, CA writes: My beef is with other dog owners who believe if a dog is making any sound that resembles a growl, the dog is about to bite. It's a fact that many Rottweilers are "talkers". They are just talking and have no intention of biting or becoming aggressive. My dog is a very big talker and some people really freak out when he talks. The more he likes somebody, the higher the chance he may "talk". What really irritates me is other Rott owners who are not aware of the fact that Rotts can "talkers". And for those who are unlucky enough to have talkers, correcting it will mostly do no good. Once a talker, always a talker. In the beginning, I tried every correction known to get Caesar to stop talking, and it was not until I started to ignore it that it just about went away!
